Hangul 2004 by Haansoft (now Hancom) is a full-featured Korean word processor for Windows and a core component of the Hancom Office suite. Centered on the native HWP format—widely used across South Korea, including in government—it delivers precise Korean typesetting, dependable document exchange, and tools suited for both everyday and professional writing. Compared with earlier releases, Hangul 2004 offers a refined interface, improved performance, and better compatibility while preserving support for existing HWP documents.

Key capabilities include:

  • Deep Korean language support, including Hangul/Hanja input, conversion, and proofreading tools
  • Robust page layout with styles, multi-column formatting, headers/footers, footnotes and endnotes, and automatic tables of contents
  • Insertion and layout control for images and drawing objects
  • Templates and mail merge for standardized forms, letters, and labels
  • Import and export with common formats such as HWP, RTF, and Microsoft Word DOC for easier collaboration
  • Basic document protection options, including passwords and read-only settings

Hangul 2004 is designed to handle complex, mixed-language documents while maintaining the accuracy and typographic quality expected in Korean word processing.
